Michelin’s Revolution: Pioneering Eco-Friendly Tyres Set to Transform WEC and IMSA Racing in 2026

Michelin will introduce a new range of slick tyres for the World Endurance Championship and IMSA SportsCar Championship next year made from 50% sustainable materials, surpassing their original target of 40% renewable and recycled components in Hypercar and GTP classes. This marks an increase from the current 30%, with the new Pilot Sport Endurance range set to debut in 2026 before the Le Mans 24 Hours. This is Michelin’s first mass-production range with high levels of recycled and renewable materials. The company aims to achieve 100% sustainable materials in road tyres by 2050, with the motorsport range driving sustainable technology forward. The new range includes soft, medium, and hard slick options to enhance warm-up and durability while maintaining performance. Michelin is considering reducing tyre allocations in WEC races to promote efficiency and performance advancements, with potential rule changes by 2027.
